Chris is a member and regular exhibitor with the Northampton Town & County Art Society and serves on their Council. She paints mainly in watercolour or acrylic, and sometimes with mixed media and oils.

She is part of a group of painters from all over the country that annually enjoy painting together in Walberswick on the Suffolk coast. Painting outside whatever the weather, brings a whole new meaning to watercolour! She also regularly goes to Cumbria, painting with a group in the Derwent Water area and has been on an amazing trip on a working boat up to the Arctic She has recently illustrated a children’s book and also the front cover for a legal publication. In her spare time she has been restoring highly intricate painted ceilings in Abruzzo Italy. Chris is also a part time tutor for Yardley Arts and has run a number of courses based on watercolours for beginners or the terrified…and beyond. She hopes next year to also start a similar set of courses in acrylics. Chris previously taught Art, including painting, printmaking, sculpture and photography in a number of schools in Northamptonshire including Wellingborough and Wrenn. It is very exciting for her to be back teaching and sharing her expertise.

Chris has won prizes locally and nationally with two awards from the Royal Watercolour Society in their 21st Century Open Exhibition that led to a very successful solo exhibition in London.

She has exhibited with the New English Art Club at the Mall Gallery London, at the Bankside Gallery London, The Three Hares Gallery Olney, Alfred East Gallery, The Guildhall Gallery, Woburn Abbey and has had work accepted by the Royal Academy.

Private and corporate bodies including the Savoy Group have purchased her paintings.

Her main artistic influences are Turner, Piper, Vilhelm Hammershoi Kurt Jackson and David Tress. Her current passion is the interplay of light and reflections, and she gets great pleasure from battling outside with her local river environment, which provides constantly changing opportunities for work. She also enjoys painting in pubs and restaurants looking at strong light on tables and people in dark interiors.
